The Pianist Recites Biggie's 'Ten Crack Commandments'

"Follow these rules you'll have mad bread to break up
If not, twenty-four years, on the wake up
Slug hit your temple, watch your frame shake up
Caretaker did your makeup, when you pass"

Rock The Bells 2011 Line-Up

Fuck. Wow. All the albums I grew up on are being played at the same place in their entirety - Only Built For Cuban Linx, Black Sunday, Liquid Swords, The Infamous, Black Star and fuckin' Illmatic! I would pay full price to see just one of these albums performed. Then you've also got Evidence, Immortal Technique, Blu + Exile, Slaughterhouse...it's like a role call of every artist I ever wanted to see in one place. And did I mention they have a stage called the 36 Chambers Stage. That's an entire stage that only plays Wu! And I'm 10478.4 kilometers away from it.

The Woman Who Fell To Earth

On Christmas Eve 1971, only hours after her high school graduation ceremony, 17-year-old Juliane Koepcke and her mother boarded a plane that was to cross the Peruvian rain forest. They were heading home to celebrate Christmas with her father. The plane flew into a volatile thunderstorm and was obliterated in seconds—killing all 92 passengers except for Juliane. After being thought dead for 11 days, she emerged from the jungle and was reunited with her father.

The details of this remarkable escape were revisited in Wings of Hope, a little-known documentary that was made for German television by Werner Herzog in 2000. Not enough people have seen this film or heard Juliane’s story, so Vice recently spoke with her and asked her to tell it to us all over again.

China Has Music Festivals Too!

Vice took a trip over to the Zebra Music Festival, in the way to far-out Sichuan province, to prove that fun exists in China and that it is definitely not a totalitarian communist state hell bent on stamping out every last bit of creativity in its quest for world domination.

Click the link below to see the evidence for the case of the Music Festival Really Existing In China.

The 6 Creepiest Places On Earth

#6. Aokigahara Forest, Japan.
Aokigahara is a woodland at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan that makes The Blair Witch Project forest look like Winnie the Pooh's Hundred Acre Wood. It probably has something to do with all the dead bodies scattered around.
What Niagara Falls is to weddings, Aokigahara is to suicide. How many suicides does it takes for a place to get that reputation? A dozen? Fifty?

More than 500 fucking people have taken their own lives in Aokigahara since the 1950s.
The trend has supposedly started after Seicho Matsumoto published his novel Kuroi Kaiju (Black Sea of Trees) where two of his characters commit suicide there. After that-always eager to prove they are bizarrely susceptible to suggestion-hundreds of Japanese people have hanged themselves among the countless trees of the Aokigahara forest, which is reportedly so thick that even in high noon it's not hard to find places completely surrounded by darkness.

Besides bodies and homemade nooses, the area is littered with signs displaying such uplifting messages like "Life is a precious thing! Please reconsider!" or "Think of your family!"

"If you commit suicide here, bears will poop on your corpse."

In the 70s, the problem got national attention and the Japanese government began doing annual sweeps of the forest in search of bodies. In 2002, they found 78. But who knows how many they missed? In all likelihood there probably is a hanged person somewhere in Aokigahara on any given day. You can see some of them here.

By the way, if an entire dark forest full of hanged corpses wasn't bad enough, a few years ago some people noticed that a lot of the dead in Aokigahara probably had cash or jewelry on them. Thus began the proud Japanese tradition of Aokigahara Scavenging where people are running around the Death Forest, looking for dead guys to loot.
